minnow flavoring
« on: Dec 30, 2017, 09:03 AM »
I'm going to salt and cure and possibly flavor a few minnows that didn't make it down the ice hole. I know that certain fish like certain flavors, bass like garlic carp and catfish like sweets. Anyone know what walleye like? garlic? spicy? salty? sweet?

Walleye prefer live minnows.

Carp doesnt only like sweets , garlic and salt is huge attractant for them , liver or fishy flavors works as well.

So I’m not the only one using fish tank stuff for fishing lol. I’ve tried Kent’s garlic extract on my crawlers and wax worms before, it may have helped, but all I know for sure is it made everything in the shack smell like garlic bread. Maybe I’ll mix in some selcon since it’s a fatty acid supplement and that may give it that extra flavor boost too.

Was wondering if anyone else is aquahobbist here .. Besides vitachem i havent used anything else since all my fish were well with it . I do however use stresscoat in my minnow buckets.
I could try different stuff , hence my preferred fish species is carp itself , so got plenty of stuff here .

I've tried using various fish foods from the pet store. Shrimp seems to work ok.
May ol man winter blow a cool breeze up your shorts!
