Frabill has come along way the last few years, I bought a Trekker ll  back in the fall of 2010 and I still
have it, it has served me well. I fish 4 to 5 days a week so it gets plenty of use. Last year I build a Smitty Sled to
make it easier to pull my sled in deep snow, it works well, good luck with your purchase! :flex:

My dad has the Aegis and I have the Nanook, I'd say they are both pretty comparable. Plenty of fishing space for 2 people and sled has plenty of room for gear. My dad's is a little lighter making it easier to pull by hand. The only downfall I can say of the Aegis is the push buttons to extend the beams, they seem to freeze up and be difficult in cold weather. But I know there are lubes and ways around this. His is also an older version so maybe they have changed this by now. I will say that if you plan to do a lot of shanty fishing for prolonged periods, the boat seats make a big difference compared to the bench seats. Whether the extra $150 is worth spending for the boat seats is up to you but once I got them I don't think I could go back...
I'd agree with Ice Wanderer, Frabill's shantys have come a long ways over the years.
Da Pack!

i bought one and it was not good at all! even the hy-fax kit is a joke.

i got it super cheap too and when i asked frabill to work with me to get it fixed they just said "send it back" so i did. they could care less what i had just bought!

amazon wanted me to keep it so they dropped the price even further. it was under 180$ after they lowered the price on the phone and i told them to pick it up anyway.

i wrote a long review on amazon if you want to read it.

look for reviewed by 3300 in the reviews.

The aegis replaced the trekker I I that I have.  I got the dlx with boat seats and thermal shell and have used it hard, lots of miles behind the snow machine for 5 years now.  Has held up well minus a burn from a drunk buddy and a Mr heater.  Can load it in the truck full of gear relatively easy, would recommend to anyone

I bought 1 last year cheap on amazon. Love mine it's same weight as my clam scout. I didn't have the issues some folks had with putting it together and had no problem installing the hyfax kit. The storage tote seats are handy but they d break easy in the cold, I bought stadium seats to place on top of the storage totes so we could have a more comfy seat with a back. If the price was rite I would deff buy thus shelter again

I like frabill.  That being said, they cant hold a candle to otter.  The extra $ is well worth it!!!

I have a frabill predator, super heavy but well built comparable to otter.  that is the only shack I have seen from frabill I would buy.  otter has heavy duty shacks in all sizes

I got the aegis last year, so far I don't have any complaints. Lots of room for fishing and gear. It's heavy but durable

There are a lot of different style flips and all are pretty decent. The insulated vs non insulated material is usually the difference between low and high on a MR heater cooker.

The main things in a flip IMO are the height of the seats, the seats being comfortable, and the flip shack being tall enough to stand up in.

Doesn't look like to bad a shack, however I would suggest looking at one in a store.

I've never had a shappell flip over. The only shapell I had was an Ice Bandit. Similar to Frabill hide out. Canvas is better than Frabill Hideout.
See you on the ice!
