GLOBAL WARMING THEORY IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM!!!

That’s right I said and I will further go on to say that those of you who strongly subscribe to this theory have and are being duped by environmental groups.  The very same groups who try and ruin the outdoorsman’s way of life.  Do I have your attention yet?

Good-you’ve decide to read on.  Global warming is the theory that increased levels of carbon dioxide and certain other gases are causing an increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere because of the so-called ‘greenhouse effect.  Global warming” really is only a theory, not a fact, and the words I chose to italicize are all key terms in the scientific debate over whether the theory is correct or not.

The following are proven flaws in the theory of global warming and come from peer reviewed science journal and books.  I would do a bibliography, but I do not have the time or the room.

-most of the warming in the past century occurred before 1940, before CO2 emissions could have been a major factor.

-temperatures fell between 1940 and 1970 even as CO2 levels increased

-change, not stability, is the defining characteristic of the global climate, with naturally occurring events (e.g., volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis) much more likely to affect climate than anything humans do
-temperature readings from reporting stations outside the U.S. are poorly maintained and staffed and probably inaccurate; those in the U.S., which are probably more accurate, show little or no warming trend.

-“full professors from MIT, Harvard, Columbia, Duke, Virginia, Colorado, UC Berkeley, and other prestigious schools ... the former president of the National Academy of Sciences ... will argue that global warming is at best unproven, and at worst pure fantasy"

-temperature sensors on satellites report much less warming in the upper atmosphere (which the theory of global warming predicts should warm first) than is reported by temperature sensors on the ground

-data from weather balloons agree with the satellites

-“No one can say for sure if global warming will result in more clouds, or fewer clouds,” yet cloud cover plays a major role in global temperatures.

-Antarctica “as a whole is getting colder, and the ice is getting thicker”

-The Ross Ice Shelf in Antarctica has been melting for the past 6,000 years (p. 195, p. 200-201); “Greenland might lose its ice pack in the next thousand years”

-The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is “a huge group of bureaucrats and scientists under the thumb of bureaucrats,” and its 1995 report was revised “after the scientists themselves had gone home” .

-James Hansen’s predictions of global warming during a Congressional committee hearing in 1988, which launched the global warming scare, were wrong by 200 percent (.35 degrees Celsius over the next 10 years versus the actual increase of .11 degrees); in 1998, Hansen said long-term predictions of climate are impossible

-there has been no increase in extreme weather events (.e.g., floods, tornadoes, drought) over the past century or in the past 15 years; computer models used to forecast climate change do not predict more extreme weather.

-temperature data are suspect because they have been adjusted and manipulated by scientists who expect to find a warming trend
increased levels of CO2 act a fertilizer, promoting plant growth and contributing to the shrinking of the Sahara desert .

-sufficient data exist to measure changes in mass for only 79 of the 160,000 glaciers in the world.

-sea levels have been rising at the rate of 10 to 20 centimeters (four to eight inches) per hundred years for the past 6,000 years

-El Niños are global weather patterns unrelated to global warming and on balance tend to be beneficial by extending growing seasons and reducing the use of heating fuels.

The threat of global warming is essentially nonexistent. Even if it were a real phenomenon, it would probably result in a net benefit to most of the world.  Go to The Heartland Institute’s home page and click on the PolicyBot button. Each subtopic will present you with titles, authors, publication information, reviews, and links to dozens of recent studies and commentaries on every aspect of the global warming debate. Where does the Global Warming theory come from?   Environmental groups and bureaucrats with their own agendas.  Ever wonder why these environmentalists get their way so many times.  They have deep pockets.  Environmentalism organizations today “have big buildings, big obligations, and big staffs. They may trade on their youthful dreams, but the truth is, they’re now part of the establishment. And the establishment works to preserve the status quo.  Major environmental groups have lost sight of the original purpose of identifying and solving environmental problems. Instead, they rely on scare tactics and “junk science” to raise more than one billion dollars a year to support fancy corporate offices, large well-paid staffs, and a political agenda that leans to the left of the general public.

 Now if you’ve read this far hopefully some of this is making sense.  I highly recommend you pick up Micheal Critchon’s book, State of Fear . Tucked inside a lively and entertaining tale of a philanthropist, a scientist, a lawyer, and two remarkable women who travel around the world trying to foil the plots of evil-doers is a detailed expose of the flawed science and exaggerations at the base of the global warming scare. It is also a devastating critique of mainstream environmentalism today and an eloquent call for change.

Like Crichton’s previous block-busters, The Andromeda Strain and Jurassic Park, this book blends science and fiction in ways that teach as well as entertain readers. Crichton, who earned an M.D. from Harvard University and has written several nonfiction books (click here for a biography), backs up his claims with footnotes, an appendix, and an annotated bibliography. Clearly, he wants the science in his book to be taken seriously.
Michael Crichton’s State of Fear presents very strong criticism of the leaders of the nation’s big environmental advocacy organizations, and no doubt they will attempt to discredit Crichton, just as they have S. Fred Singer, Richard Lindzen, Sallie Balliunas, Patrick Michaels, Robert Balling, and the late Dixy Lee Ray. The difference this time, however, is that all those dissenters are or were prominent scientists respected by their peers but relatively unknown to the general public. Crichton is not a scientist, but he has accurately summarized their findings in a book that will reach millions of readers in the coming months, and tens of millions in the coming years.

I hope now I have raised some awareness to all of you so that you begin to question the validity of  the global warming theory.  I will have some that disagree and discredit these findings.  To them I say prove it-everything above is based on fact-no opinion or consensous based science littered with beurocrat influence.   Hopefully many of my sportsmen brethren will research on try to educate others on this scam before it is too late and the environmentalists have taken away the simple pleasures we all enjoy.

Enlighten me, can you clarify for us how acknowledging that something like global warming exists will adversely affect the sporting community?  How are the enviromental groups working to "dupe" the sportsmen?  I think as sportsmen we should have a strong and distinct respect for and responsibility to the environment - perhaps you should research more of these groups' missions and goals and see how many just might overlap with yours personally.

I am not persuaded by "fact picking".  The information can be sensational, entertaining and intriguing, but in many cases well out of context of the bigger picture, and in most cases neglects other facts to the contrary of the argument.

I actually agree that the Earth's climate has natural shifts.  But you have to admit that we are destroying our natural world pollution, over development, etc.  At some point mother nature is gonna take it back.

A couple of uses of "probably" in that statement that smack of arrogance.  It wouldn't surprise me if the statement is generally true outside the developed world (at least N. America and much of Europe), but as written I can't go along with the statement without a serious amount of digging as to the source. 

That being said, I generally agree.

Now, I've had about enough though...I'm wishing you easterners some safe ice so you can all go fishing and stop speculating about global warming in an abnormally warm winter in this part of the world.

We do not need to be fearful of all envornmental groups but many of them have a great smoke and mirrors show going on.

Did you know the Sierra Club spends only about 7 percent of its budget on “outdoor activities”? (It said so right on the back of the reply form that accompanied its direct mail letters.) Is it right to call such an organization an “environmental” group when it is actually a direct-mail house connected to a Washington DC-lobbying shop?

PETA, the animal rights group, funds ELF, an eco-terrorist group, and several other mainstream environmental groups have been funding them as well.

It is pretty much undisputed that the climate has been warming over the last few year...This year is the best example.  However, the question is if these are caused by increased CO2 or natural warming and cooling cycles of the earth.  We have been coming out of a hard ice age for the last 10,000 years.  Are we still seeing the effects of that or is it CO2 that is warming us so much???   I tend to think and hope it is just natural.  I just hope sometime soon we turn the corner and head back to the cooler days!!!!!

If a build-up of greenhouse gases leads directly to temperature increases, then temperatures over the past ten years should have increased 0.5 degrees Celsius. In fact, global temperatures rose by only a statistically insignificant 0.07 degrees Celsius.  During the last century, global temperatures rose just 0.45 degrees Celsius, and 0.34 of that increase occurred before World War II, when man-madeemissions were lowest. The observed warming in the last 55 years has
been so small that temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere - once predicted to see the largest temperature increases - in fact experienced no significant change.

In the absence of catastrophic global warming, rising levels of carbon dioxide are beneficial to plant and animal life. As was mentioned earlier, plant growth increases in response to higher levels of carbon dioxide. Sherwood B. Idso, a research physicist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has conducted extensive research into the consequenceso f a
high-carbon dioxide world. He finds that today’s carbon dioxide levels, while high by human historical records, are in fact very low compared to levels that prevailed when plant life first evolved.Among the many scientists who share Idso’s view is James Teeri, director of the University of Michigan’s BioIogicaI Station. Teeri and five other researchers reported in 1993 that higher levels of carbon dioxide increase the rate of plant photosynthesis and the number and length of roots for a variety of trees. Forest trees growing in poor soil would especially benefit from carbon dioxide-rich air; in experiments
they dramatically increased their root, branch, and leaf growth.

i dont mind spending a few minutes reading about something important and interesting like the environment, but when you start out with " youre being duped", then write an essay that could probably be best said with one paragraph, im going to lose interest quickly. im guessing im not the only one.

Man , I'm glad I live in North Dakota where we have 9 month's of winter and 3 month's of bad ice, and the farm tractors still out number the cars and trucks in the state , Where we can still eat the game we harvest. We can all do our part to conserve energy, plant a tree.Educate our children to respect the environment, and the general public and the opinions of others, Slip you might want to ease up on the fish leave a couple for the rest of us

we are a species are too young and dont have long enough concrete data to prove global warming is true or not weve only been keeping records a few hundred years the earths been here for a few billion. but we should be concerned that we are destroying the planet and its animal life with pollution, clearing forests, overfishing, the list could go on and on, and its not really in the earths benefit we wise up its in our own. we need to face the facts the planet will be here long after we are and will recover from whatever we dish out but we on the other hand may not be around too much longer as a species if we dont wise up. we have the technology to change our ways, but as stated before it cuts into someones profits and saving the planet isnt as profitable as destroying it.

Global Warming = the warming of the Globe Can anyone deny that fact? I can not argue the degree of warming or how long it might last but its 70 in Jan in Upstate NY THATS DAMN HOT 

The theories of why the globe is warming are incomplete as we as humans are just beginning to scratch the surface of earth science and the likes. Sure it could be a cycle or even that damn Mexican guy El Nino (If I ever meet that jerk I am gonna punch his lights out). It could be all that nasty pollution that the Midwest is dumping on us here in the Adirondacks. You do know that it could also be the pollution that  us New Yorkers are pumping in the air that pollute the lakes and streams to the North East of us.

Rest assured if we continue to ignore Global Warming and all the bad things that might cause it we are all doomed. Liberals, Conservatives Independants and lamers who don't vote along with the tree huggers and sportsman MUST get it together before its too late!

This is not doom and gloom folks these are facts and we are dealing with the consequences every day!
