Well I guess that makes me a kid then because those big white perch are a blast on the jig stick and boy do they taste good!!!!!   For me I get just as juiced landing a 2 lb pound perch or a 200 pound bluefin.   It's the tug that's the drug as I've so often heard.   Just my opinion

Freaked out about eating panfish? Maybe I'm missing something but the yellows, and gills/sunfish I have fried up were dynamite. Only thing better is a cusk In my opinion (from freshwater).

What do sunfish taste like? I would imagine that you would have to harvest a ton of them to get a good amount of meat.

Taste was very mild, but great texture. And yes you would need a ton for a fish fry, but my little cousin caught a few last year and we threw them in with some yellows and whites we had caught. He wanted to eat them so we tried them, and I was pleasantly surprised that they tasted good even in open water.
