Definitely NOT done with ice (3.5.17)
« on: Mar 05, 2017, 09:57 PM »
;D 48F and sunny today, bluebird skies, and at least 15" of ice.  Still plenty of ice season left!  Got into eater-sized fish today, nothing huge. Apart from normal jigs, also tried some new 6mm Fiskas tugsten XL jigs today, and with the longer shanks, I was happy with better the hookup rate.  The smaller profile of the tungsten helped entice some of the finicky fish.

I was there today too.  I got into similar size fish. Beautiful day despite a little wind.

Just gotta love Colorado. The contrast in photos from this post to those from Slayer's is pretty amazing. Same state same weekend.

way to get out there, its always nice if you can time it right and fish the last few weekends in T's.

Think it'll hold up through the week?  Was thinking of heading up next Sat, always have a smaller lake for backup on the way back down just in case.  Looks pretty warm up there this week but cloudy too hopefully that keeps the sun off the ice when possible.

Yep, almost perfect conditions!  Beautiful day.

I know!  You can be out in the boat and out on the ice in a 24h timespan.  Amazing what a difference 55 miles makes here in CO.

Yeah, pretty sure it'll be safe into April.  Plenty of ice and a couple inches of snow was holding on top.

A little slow around Empire and Idaho Springs -- not too bad, tho.

I know --- weird, right?  Down here in Denver it has been like the middle of April or beginning of May!
