Showdown Help
« on: Jan 20, 2017, 08:52 AM »
My showdown was working great for the 1st ten minutes yesterday. Then it decided to not read the bottom, my jig, or any fish. It still had all the numbers on the left, but nothing else. I unplugged everything, restarted it several times. Any thoughts form anyone?

Maybe a bad battery.  I just had a similar issue with my LX-5.  Different machine I know, but it would power up and not show anything.  Tested the battery with a meter and it was down to 5-6v, even after charging.  Any 12v battery tested under 12v is probably toast.  Something to check!

these batteries should be replaced about every 3 years. it is mentioned as 95% of all sonar problems on marcums site.

the charger is key to try to get the most out of them as is top charging them in the off season and waiting for them to be room temp before charging them.

i think shakedown is right about the battery being shot.
get a meter to check yours. they are free with coupon from harbor freight or 6$ w/o.
a new battery costs about 20$ on amazon and about 30$ every where else.

Well, it's not the battery. Tested it tonight, and my meter read 12.69V. I will have to call them on Monday.

Is that the reading you're getting after it's charged?  After the battery is charged it should be reading 13.something.  Two weeks ago my Showdown turned off after two hours on the ice and I posted on here about it.  3300 helped me out by telling me how to test the battery and what it should be reading.  I listened to what he said to do and it turned out the battery was bad.  He's really knows his stuff and I'd bet he's right about the battery being bad.

I had a similar problem a few years ago, It turned on but the bottom depth was stuck at 20ft and would not adjust to the 30 ft I was fishing so I couldn't see any thing. I sent it in and Marcum fixed it. no charge
