Went over into Idaho and fished the Montpelier reservoir and had a blast. Got there shortly after 1st light drilled my 1st hole and put an egg on a castmaster and sent it down and fished about a foot of the bottom. Drilled 2nd hole used a small chartreuse jig tipped with wax worm trying different depths. No electronics at this time maybe next year. Had a hard hit on the castmaster it was just setting in a rod holder. Sent the jig down and it was nonstop perch action. All small ones though. Moved after about 2 hrs fished another spot and caught fish and moved to another location caught more fish and a bonus rainbow trout. This was way better than when I 1st ice fished almost 10yrs ago. No kokanee though will try them the next time I go over, maybe try at 5 and 10 foot mark to see what happens. I am hooked now, just need a shack and some electronics(maybe) and I can run with the big dogs.
