Oh, the looks you get!

For fun, go into the beading section of Michaels dressed as a grungy fisher-guy. They don't quite have audible red alert sirens, but there will be little old ladies and soccer-moms giving you looks.

Combine that with a trip to an auto parts store to buy brake lines and getting asked "what are you working on- and do you need brake fluid?" and then, after explaining that you're making rattles for fishing lures you see that blank stare and hear the crickets chirping in the background and the day is complete.  ;)
May the fish be with you.

LOVE it!!  ;D ;D I've used a jet sled as a kayak once in a floodwater pond that forms next to my house during the snow melt. A little bit tipsy, but it was functional. Got a lot of double takes form people. Another time, my friend from NY and I put perch on the end of our lines dropped them in the ditch in front of our house. When a car would drive by we would lift our lines up and pretend to take the fish off.  :) We certainly got some good laughs out of it and so did the people driving by!
Perch bait- a small minnow that can have big results in the ice fishing game.  :icefish:

LOL  ;D

Never be afraid to ask "why not?" There are two things I think about when browsing the fishing tackle aisles: 1: shiny things attract fishermen as much, if not more than they attract fish. 2: I think, how can I make that? The answer to this may, or may not come from traditional fishing lure making materials.

The lures, flies and jigs I make are inspired either by previous examples I've seen or from natural forage. Inside of a lot of caught fish are examples of the food those fish eat in that particular area. Looking at these can point the way to predicting fish behavior and can also give insight into what will catch them and if you can create a lure that imitates that food you're well on your way to success.

May the fish be with you.

I remember in the summertime, I'd walk into Price Chopper and pick up only Chicken Livers and Pantyhose for catfishing. Register lady would give me the weirdest look.  ::)

I went into a Hannaford with my camo on one spring after turkey hunting.  People were quite nice.  They all yielded to me in the isles and let me go 1st😄  Living in Chittenden  County is unlike any other place in this state for sure.  I didn't grow up here and glad I didn't.
