North Country Conn. River variety??
« on: Dec 23, 2016, 05:22 PM »
???   Sunny and warm when I headed a little north to one of the Conn. river setbacks.   Looking for some of our scattered crappie I found a half dozen in 30 fow suspended just under the ice.   Changed holes and they disapeared.   I put a 1" piece of crawler on a micro tungsten jig and dropped it down to 5 ft below the ice where there were big red marks on the Vexilar.   During the next hour I caught 6 big fat yellow bull head.   Dragging back toward the launch site I  tried  spot that had provided me with late afternoon yellow perch.  I marked the perch tight to the bottom and after releasing several dozen I finally kept a half dozen the where over ten inches.  Talked to several pike fishermen but none of them had taken a legal size pike.  Covered my catch with a few inches of fluffy snow and plan to fillet them first thing in the morning.   After that I have orders to wrap Christmas presents!
Took a bunch of pictures but when I went to store them at photo bucket I got a GIANT beeping warning , from MicroSoft telling me that there was a dangerous virus  waiting.   I don't dare to do anything until my computer lady comes to help me out??

Well done, nice report. What a mixed bag. Looks like many spots on the river froze w out snow interference. Lots of river to explore. Now go find some walleye and trout ;D

???  Anyone know of a good way to cook up bullhead fillets?
They must be good to eat because I already have two people that want me to go back and catch more?

Duck,
I personally just butter/cream poach em with salt and pepper. A good friend swears by a dark stout beer batter. They're really good when the water they came from is cold.

Cheers
