Ice Drill Deals on Jiffy
« on: Feb 15, 2006, 09:58 AM »
I am looking to buy a new Jiffy Ice Drill.  I see on Jiffy's website they have a Model 30 for $317.95 under special sale items.  Is that a good deal?

What do you recommend the 8" or the 10"?  I think they are both good deals but I think the 8" is more than enough for me.

I have a 10", but we use my cousins 8" also and both work fine.

I have a 2hp 9" Stealth and I want to get a 6" Stealth drill assembly for it. I don't need a big hole all the time. I would recomend the 2hp unless your drilling trough thick Ice all the time. :)

I'll second that. A 2hp will be plenty for any amount of ice if you are going with the 8". I use mine with 2 extensions on the 8" auger some seasons and have no trouble with be "under powered." Plus the 2HP seem to run nicer and they are lighter and use alot less gas.

Thanks for all of the advice.  I went with the Jiffy Model 30 8" Auger and I am so happy I did.  It was a great deal and the Model 30 works like a dream.

Agreed, I picked up a Jiffy Legend Lightning about 2 weeks ago now....Thing cuts fast and smooth, super easy to handle.

I did have a set back as about a week into using it the rip-cord malfunction, it would not retract. I took it back to the store and they had it fixed by the next morning it was back in my hands

Billybass,
Here is a link to the Easy Snap cover for Jiffy augers. You will want to pick one up. They have free shipping this month. Brent

Brent,
Thanks for the great idea - those covers look awesome.  Jiffy is selling one too and it's yellow.  Are they the same?  http://www.jiffyonice.com/accessories.htm#protectors

It looks like everyone should have one of these!  I will buy one and let you know if I think it works as good as it looks.

I personally like the added room with the 10" but 8" is all you will ever need and does the job fine.

I think that is a Tecumseh Issue with the 2HP.  At least you got it taken care of ASAP.  Too bad Ice Fishing is over for me for the season.

I just heard that you can call Jiffy and they have "DEMO" Ice Drills on sale at a cheap price.  I think they have just about every Model and I think they were used by Jiffy's prostaff. ;D  I wish I would have know this sooner.
