Reports of a Chevrolet 3/4 ton going through the ice at White Bear Lake. There is no reason to take a chance, DO NOT DRIVE ON THE ICE YET!! If you only see foot traffic there's obviously a reason, don't take a chance!

I saw that picture on Facebook, looked like he only made it 20' or so off shore before it went swimming. My buddy sent me a picture of a guy who had his Jeep parked about that far out on Lake Susan in Chanhassen yesterday. I don't know if people don't understand that the snow is slowing the ice or if they just aren't very bright, but kinda scary either way.

I walked out on White Bear today just to check the ice thickness. I cut a hole about 100 yards out from the VFW and measure 9 inches with a tape measure.

Has anyone been out on WBL recently? I now live in Hudson, WI but am thinking about heading over there tomorrow or this weekend. Grew up in WBL and spent most summers out there water skiing and sailing, but never did much fishing on that lake.
Thinking of heading out from Bellaire beach and somewhere out between there and Manitou Island. Would like to get some feedback on ice conditions before making the haul over there.
TIA!
