warm weather and rain
« on: Jan 31, 2016, 02:42 PM »
This has been a very iffy ice season.  I remember breaking my composite auger flighting when temps were in the 40's.  The ice shavings were heavy and I didn't lift to clear.  Next thing I knew my auger starts binding and then a piece of the flighting was on the ice.  While it's great that there's no ice on the auger.

Drilling three holes in the ice and the thickness went from 10-14 inches in the spacing inside of the hub shack.  You can see the ice variation.  Went to a spot 14" then 30 yards away had 7" of ice.

I didn't go ice fishing in the rain this time.  Had enough of that from previous years.

For sure, hopefully this snow for Tuesday misses to the south.  It'll be a big mess if what they are saying is right

In the Bemidji Area, I found a lake with 20" of ice and no slush, then the next day fished a lake 2 miles North with 10" of ice and 5" of slush... Who knows

At least we havent got much snow.. If we get dumped with a lot of snow, it won't be pretty! Fingers crossed that it doesn't snow more!

Darn it, the snow dumped on us.  Oh well I guess I don't need the cleats now.

Darn another weekend where the high temps are coming in.  Expecting some morning shower on Friday.   Possibly even 50f.  Well oh well...it's very iffy ice...

Don't forget your cleats this weekend. It should be a good but slippery bite ;)

I admit that the weekend fishing was in pretty good adventure.  Friday fished the front of the storm, awesome.  Then got beat down by wind and rain, cold and miserable.  Finally evening rolled around and fishing got wella gain.

Saturday was awesome all around.  Light traffic, cuz people didn't care for slop fishing.  The lake water looked more cloudy.  As expected, it's a river chain of lakes.
