Go with the ultra light for pan fish. They still have plenty of back bone for larger fish.

I had a ul that I absolutely loved until I broke it.  The new ones for this year are suppose to be allot better.

I used the 24" ULL tickle stick all season last year and loved it. Got into some 13" crappies and it worked well paired with a straight line Eagle Claw reel. I bought the 27UL and paired it with a Black Betty 6061 I have not had a chance to try yet as no ice. I believe the more sensitive you can get by with the better including light line. The straight line reels work well with Fluorocarbon line and add more sensitivity.
You will like it..

Careful, those tips break easily while doing things that shouldn't really break them. Go with the Snitch rod instead. Cheaper and more durable

I have the UL27 and ML27.  Only fish the UL with a tungsten jig but broke it last week on Devils Lake. With temps below freezing these poles do not work for hole hopping.  The eyes are very small and the tips do have memory, I left tension on my ML27 in the off season and it is permanently bent sideways.

Like I said in my earlier post, I heard they changed the material used and are not suppose to have the problems of the first generation of tickle sticks, hopefully someone with a new one will give a report on them.

I've also heard many good comments and reviews for TUCR.  In talking to Adam at TUCR and a couple of employees from Scheels CF, and reading forum users input it seemed that most of them recommended the
pre cision noodle rod.  I'm picking up a new TUCR on Wednesday.  I actually got one for Christmas, but it was a QT.  Doing an exchange.  I've never used one.  EricB86 , how did you decide on the Bullwhip?  I' m hoping I made the correct decision.  Although it sounds like maybe a guy eventually may want one of each.

It's sensitive for that small bite, and it's got monster backbone for the wall mounter! I live in cedar falls, Scheels only had the PNoodles last time I checked, plus I like to keep my business local and shop Hanks! They have a huge selection of TUCR. And the Brantner Jigs are taking it to the next level!

You want the light for 02 raps and spoons. Ul for plastics and bait.

I agree with Eric, yes it's more money but you will be far happier with a custom rod. I never knew the difference until I ordered a Thorne brothers and the difference is amazing.

I sold all my customs(tucr, thorne bros, dh, etc) except for the heavier ones. For panfish i switched to $9 ht ice blues 30". I caught just as many fish with them last year than i have with the customs... And i can buy 10 of them for the same price. I liked my 13 fishing wicked 28"UL too, great light spoon rod!
