I am looking at the black Betty was wondering if anyone used these straight reels I just bought a Jason Mitchel and love it but I've been thinking that there is a reason for the straight reels any opinions.

I have a couple of the Eagle Claw brand inline ice reels and so far (got them about 1/2 way through the season last year) I really do like them.  The line twist issue on these reels vs. a small spinning reel is what I like about them.

I have not caught any big fish with it, the biggest being a 24 inch tiger musky so the drag on the reel has not been tested.

Some anglers like them, others maybe not.

I only have one Tony Roach Eagle Claw.I'm not fond of it,two things I don't like drag sucks herky jerky and the star drag always working loose from bumping it,plus it's heavy compare to my micro UL spinning reels.Maybe I like a better made one,Black Betty comes to mind.
