little dissapointed
« on: Dec 20, 2015, 04:55 PM »
being in college now I was really hoping to come home on this winter break to some promising news on hard water fishing, but it seems quite the opposite. sucks to see 50's and even 60's on the weather map... hopefully there will be some ice before jan. 24 when I go back up to Plymouth because I have been itching to get out on the ice...
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Not to worry haightdaddy, the ice will come and once the ice comes you are much closer to quality ponds and lakes than down in Nashua.

first Christmas break I can remember in which I will not be ice fishing...teachers have it rough too...enjoy the break...best part no school
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

CD how many decades can you put in a handful? You might need the other hand. That was back when we had to open beers with a can opener not these flip tops that they have now.  ;D

HD the freshman year is the toughest it took me 3 years to get to my sophomore year. Enjoy your youth you have a lot of time left for fishing.

I went to the University of Maine. The school song is about drinking, but for some reason it was against the code of conduct to be walking back to your apartment while drunk and underage.

"...Seven years of college down the drain. I might as well have joined the .......Peace Corps."

Find some like minded, ice fishing, college students and road trip on weekends. Plenty of short trips around. Proud grad of PSC, before it was a university. By some strange coincidence it was #1 for drinking around the same time I happened to be there. Purely coincidental.

Denny, One hand will barely suffice for now.  :)
As I recall, kegs and bottles were the vessels of choice for us.
Agree that the freshman year tends to be the hardest. Glad you stuck it out.
For some strange reason, I remember at orientation being in a large line where somebody said "look to the left and right of you. One of them won't be there next year."
I thought at the time, that it was some scare tactic, but oddly enough it proved to be true.

HD good luck on your mission. Put and aquarium in your room or just use eggs, worms etc. and leave the shinners on the ice. Just a question but what is your roommate like?

CD imagine what they would do now if someone had a chainsaw under their bed? Didn't they make a movie about that guy?

When i was younger, after graduating from High School i was living with a couple of my buddies in a cottage on the lake (a real animal house). We would frequent Plymouth State College quite often. From time to time i would go back to my folks home and pick up my mail.

One day stopping by the house to pick up my mail, my Dad asked, "I didn't realize you were attending College at Plymouth State?".
I told him that I wasn't and he said that's good because i just got a letter from the Dean stating that I was no longer welcome back on Campus and why.

Needless to say, shattered my Dad's dream of me furthering my education.

I still have that letter, wish they didn't go into such details though. Pretty funny actually now, not so much then.

That picture reminds me of a buddy of mine who was in a camp with 3 other guys. He took the chain off of the saw, started it and attacked them when they were in their sleeping bags.  :o  Some guys are just sick.  :cookoo:

Yes CD is definitely a celebrity.

Gotta hear this letter dude... I'm with them x3

@haightdaddy... talk about disappointed... my boss gave me the day off tomorrow, handed me a big bonus and I should be off to buy shiners for fishing tomorrow, then coming home to get a good buzz on while prepping all my gear for an EPIC surprise day on the ice weather I was catching them or not but NOOOOO, no ice...

Sorry, no massacres for me, guys. One chair had a leg shortened up by the Jonsered once though. Alcohol and women have been involved?
A buddy and I hung my roommate (that I had, had enough of) out of a window for an hour or so
in his sleeping bag. Would have left him there until someone else rescued him, but I wasn't sure how much air he had in there?
Jiggin, Put me down for number 4. I'm pretty sure my dean had no clue I was even there for four years.  ;) At least you were well known in a school you never enrolled in!
