Afternoon's spoils

Stopped by the fishing hole this evening for an hour before dark and got these guys. Smallest was 10 inches and the biggest was 12 1/2, got some real nice fillets for our dinner tomorrow. Definitely nice to see the crappie are moving in finally!

Well I planned on minnows, but I stopped by the two smaller bait shops and they didn't have any. Luckily I had a backup with me! Used a purple jig head with a 1 inch chartreuse gulp alive minnow.

OMF,  I have very good success with the 1 inch Gulp Alive minnows for crappie and bluegill, so much so that I no longer look for live minnows.  At the least, they do make good backup for live bait as you stated.  Nice bunch of fish!

Definitely give them a shot. They will change your fishing game for sure. Nothing beats a live minnow for crappie in my opinion, but if you can't use live bait these things will put a hurting on all kinds of fish. Good luck!

Nice. The only crappie and gill fillets I'LL be catching are out of my freezer. We had a long season in Pa. last and I thought I might be keeping to many but glad I did.
