what's up at the Sandbar?

I drove by the Sandbar a number of times this year and each time there were fewer and fewer people fishing. This past Saturday may have been the 1st time I have ever seems ghostown out there. Especially in March that is just plain odd. I brought my daughter there at the end of January and got skunked and that was a shocker to me. In March the fish should be stacking up in there . In the past I have seen over a hundred people out there this time of year. Yet this year there's no action.

My guess is that there is very little water under the ice.

We fished there on Sunday with the Cub Scouts from Milton and there was only 6" of water under the ice. You had to be very carefull not to hit the bottom with your auger. Unfortunately no fish

A 3" yellow was under the ice. Only about 6" of water as of yesterday morning as well. No more curiosity when I drive by it next time!

Yeah duh. I guess I probably should have figured that out. Well maybe the bite will turn on there in April this year.

Anybody been on the south side of the mouth of the Lamoille River for pike recently? I was thinking there might be some luck on that side of the river in 4-8 feet of water now that it is getting late in the season.

I fished about 300 yards out from the sand bar in line with the river a few weeks ago. Nothing on the tip ups. Caught some perch and and a couple good sized small mouth

The pike might be running in there now as they are gearing up for the spawn. With all this melting, the lake level is probably going to rise, allowing bigger fish to run in there. Good luck and be safe out there everyone.
