For panfish I use a Dewalt 20 volt drill to drive my 41/2 inch Nils. Boy does it go through ice fast and only weighs 8 lbs.
I had to drop my niece and dad off at the bus stop this am they are off to florida. I brought my Eskimo Z71 power head and old mora 6in. hand auger. I went over to dads work and the machine shop. Same guys from 20 years ago when i worked there, anyway They built me a custom coupler and welded it on to the mora handle so I now have a 6in. auger for my powerhead. the 10in has been a lot of work in this 2ft rock hard ice, the six inch has a 1/3 the surface area so it should cut a lot better(Image removed from quote.)
Nicely done. Reading this thread I think I am going to combine a few ideas. I am going to have a shop make a coupler that is able to be bolted on both ends. One for the power auger shaft and the other end sized to fit inside the auger shaft (just like a normal handle) with bolt connection. I will then be able to use a variety of my auger sizes. Thanks guys.
Are you just using a simple drill connector or did you buy the drill plate set up?
Ive got one in Barre if you want to look at it. Been making them for years......
