I fish for lakers in 100' to 160' but not to often. mainly fish in 12 to 40 feet. Where did you find a Tribeam? If I can't find one soon I'm taking the vex back. I really wish I still had my FL20 with the tribeam, its at the bottom of a lake though.

You will get a much better result with a standalone 12 or 19 degree in shallower water.  Don't know how you can get a new tri-beam until they start shipping a retail version.  I can understand your frustration.  Why should you have to go out and buy another transducer?

For whatever reason, the 9 degree proview is ridiculously sensitive.  I also don't understand why it is being pushed as an all in one solution.

Just call or email vexilar thell them what a POS the proview is and ask to exchange for a new tribeam. They will more then likely send you one.

Can you put a 12 degree on a FLX-28?
10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish .....im a 10% are you?

Yes.  All Vex transducers are now interchangeable.  I have an old Dual Beam on my 28.

I got my vex out the other day and noticed hairline cracks all along the red part on my tri-beam. I then searched about this on Ice shanty and found this post. Thank God. I called vex and they are sending me the new Tri-beam

Its constructed like their other ducers so it will never have those cracking issues again.  Works every bit as well as the older style.  Smaller as well.  Looks like they nailed it.

Got it in the mail today. Wow only 2 days. Other than several kinks in the cord the ducer passed the air test.

Should be good.....when I put the new/good tribeam on my FLX28 I couldn't believe how much better it worked.

I had same problem with Tirbeam I purchased when it first came out.  They advised its passed warranty and that if I got another and it broke they would not give me a new one and pushed me into the Proview. I was really hooked on the Tribeam. How bad is the Proview? I also have a 19 deg I figure I can just bring 2 vexs but if the proview is that bad maybe I send back? Id say most of my depth fishing is 20-50 fow.

Well kinda depends if you get a really sensitive ducer or not. The pro view works ok, but it is very sensitive. Which is weird because it doesn't pick up to much interference. in deep water it works well. One trick is if you get a super sensitive one you can put a suppresion cable on it to make it work better on shallower water.

Good to know, Thanks! Is that cable on the Vex site for sale? Can't say I have seen it but maybe I missed.

Yeah, it is the LP cord that is commonly used on the FL8SE.
