No, I am not your mommy. I do think we all need to think for a moment about ice fishing on sketchy ice. Let's pretend you are fishing on Cascade, and you go through the ice 30 yards from shore. How long do you think it would take for cold water rescue folks to get there, gear up, and get you out? If the same scenario happened at Horsethief? Magic? Palisades?
Is it worth risking your life to be the last guy this year to post "I fished XXXXX lake this weekend, the ice was iffy, but we got some good fish"?
A couple of really good guys lost their life to hypothermia last week in an incident at Winchester. One was a very good friend of my buddy's. They were very experienced ice fishermen, knew the game, and the risks. It really hit home to me, that in the past I had done some stuff on the ice that was not very smart, and by Gods grace, I survived. Please everyone, lets not have any more injuries or deaths. If the ice isn't completely legitimate for ice fishing, do not go out on it...
