Boots,Boots, Boots
« on: Jan 29, 2015, 06:57 PM »
I'm looking for really good pac boot.I have a very old pair of Sorrel Dominators,20plus years that have a little dry rot on the rubber bottoms and very old pair of real Mickeys that are 31 years old and still in decent condition, I wore them yesterday on 2 or 3 inches of slush and had dry warm feet. I only wear them to ICE FISH. I don't want a high boot like a Muck  or a all leather boot. Would like leather tops rubber bottom, with a removable pac that's warm, dry and comfortable.Weights not a big issue but something not super heavy would be nice. Like to hear some opinions what your wearing. Thanks.

Bought a pair of Cabela's 5-6 years ago. Leather tops, rubber bottoms. Nice heavy liner with fake fur at top above leather. Have worn them a lot, look like new, feet never been cold.
Only thing don't like, the liners were made in Thailand.
Paid $100.00.

Still wearing Lacrosse Ice Kings. Feet stay warm, just fine, one pair of socks and leave room for your feet to move/breath. If you get above the rubber with water, you might get wet though.

Lacrosse Ice kings are the warmest boots I've worrn.  When the temp is above 20 I like to wear 1200 gram gortex lined danner pronghorns.  They are light and very comfortable which works great when you have to walk a long way.

I have a warm pair of Boundary Redball boots size 10, worn one time, I would like to sell. I have a bum leg and they are to heavy for it.

I am convinced there is no such thing as an all around all the time warm boot.

Mickey's kept my feet warm in the shelter, but my feet still got cold in extreme cold temps outside if not moving around a lot.  Also liked how the boot shaft was thin and not bulky, could easily pull pants over them so your pants lay flat.

Baffin Control Max keep my feet warm in the shelter, but my feet still get cold in the extreme cold temps outside if not moving around a lot.  By far superior for comfort and walking.  The boot shaft is way to bulky - I cant pull my pants over them, so my pants are all bunched up --- I see no reason for such bulk on the shaft, never hear of anybody getting cold ankles or shins.

Mickeys are the way to go. Check out eBay, I bought a bunch last year for my buddies up here. There's a guy in Tampa FL (why he has a surplus of Mickeys, I'll never know haha), that has a ton of options on line for $39.99 including shipping. That's unbeatable in my eyes.

Buy Mickey's!!!

Mickeys....and if you go thru the ice and don't have on a float suit, the mickeys will help to keep you floating even if it is head down ;)
