Strawberry Acres
« on: Feb 05, 2015, 11:58 AM »
Last weekend I hooked onto my first big lake trout fishing out at Strawberry Acres. When talking with people about it and searching old posts on here, I haven't really heard about anyone else catching lake trout there. I like fishing Strawberry Acres but now I really want to catch hold of another laker or any trout/salmon for that matter.  I've heard of people catching salmon and rainbow there. Is that common or just once in awhile?  Do you think catching ahold of that laker was just some fluke or have others hooked lakers there? Last weekend someone did catch a nice 17 lb. laker up by the Islands. I've been doing some reading up on lakers and it seems they do travel around more in the winter. I wonder if its common for the lakers to cruise the channel or come into the bay looking for the smelt. Just wondering what people's thoughts or experiences are on this area. Thanks.

It's an area up on Magog.  I used to fish there a few times a year for perch.  My uncle and I iced a few salmon on accident but never a laker.  My uncle did catch the largest burbot I've ever seen there at around noon one day.

i dont fish for trout all to often but have heard if you can find the current the lakers and the other trout species follow it...to hard to explain where it is typing it out would have to point it out...strawberry acres isn't all that deep so you would be better served going between providence and the twins
Its T shirt weather until you can actually die of hypothermia

i used to fish above strawberry on the Canada line only 12 feet of water lots of Lakers going back in fourth fished for them 2 feet under the ice not uncommon to catch them 12 pounds they come out of Canada side were its drops to over 200 feet to feed on smelt around the islands

I fully agree, which ever side of the lake, the further north the greater your chances. Good Luck to you ! Sounds like you have been hooked by Lakers.

Agreed. They can be found anywhere in the main lake this time of year but the density will increase the closer you get to border.

I've seen laker go all the way up into the holding pen on the Clyde so which is still a long way south of Strawberry Acres
