Lake freeze order.
« on: Jan 06, 2015, 12:46 PM »
I don't think it's too far fetched to speculate that for the most part lakes in PA freeze earlier than others on a consistent year to year basis. Would it be worth it to compile a list here of lakes that TYPICALLY freeze first to last on a given season?

Southwest pa is easy High point lake in somerset freezes way before any other lake around. Deep creek lake in maryland follows especially in the protected coves.

Probably a tie between Rowena/Dumans Cambria Co (both near Ebensburg) and Black Mo outside of Phillipsburg. Pretty consistent year after year.  Lou

Year to year the following applies.

Jean, Beechwood, and Hills Creek followed by hunters, pisca, rose valley, and Hamilton... Army core lakes  and PPL are later season.
