Snelled hook on cusk line
« on: Jan 08, 2015, 03:54 PM »
Does anyone used snelled hooks? They are a bit longer than six inches and wouldn't be legal. Too bad f&g wouldnt ammend the law to use them. Much quicker to make and the release by catch

If I remember right, I think I've found some that are within legal length. But, most of the time I just make my own and tie up a bunch before every trip, then just use a quick snap to change them out if a fish swallows the hook.

I use them but use the weights with the barrel swivel in eac end and I run it through both sides so I am now under 6" and I can still throw a new hook on in no time. Good luck!

also if you use a steel or nylon leader they snap on and off quickly that way ,you put a new one on and take the hooks out at homewhere it is warmer.

I just loop the hook through both holes on the weights!  The cheaper the hooks the short the length I find too... Look at discount stores, can always find pack for .25.

Can't wait!
