Sodus Bay
« on: Dec 30, 2014, 09:50 AM »
Have a house booked for an ice fishing trip to Sodus Bay January 22nd. If it doesn't get locked up by then are there any other smaller lakes in the area that typically freeze quicker? Any help would be appreciated.

Unless its a crazy season , I would not worry about it to much -- fair haven is not far  and thats a sure thing in January, You have otter lake apporx 15 miles away for northerns and crappie  in Cato that I know of . good luck

Port Bay is between Sodus and Fairhaven. That's worth checking wether Sodus is frozen or not.

the  ice  in  the  small pond  in  fair  haven  can  be  tricking  I  seen  3  foot  of  ice  gone  in a  day  out  there ,that's  all  stream  fed  and   any  warm  spell  can  change  the  ice  quick  ...the  bay  can  be  tricky  on  the  north  east  side

You could always make the drive down to honeoye lake, about a 40minute drive.  Should be safe ice by the 22nd (I would hope)
