What part of NY do you fish in??? I live SW of Albany and will be fishing Shcroon Lake tomorrow. About 2 hour drive. We fished there last Sunday and caught 2 fish. Smallmouth and 13" Laker. A fish kept stealing my minnows off 1 tip-up. Probably a good size laker. Some guy came on the ice in shallower water, 20'- 30' and cuaght a 24" laker. He released it. Looked like a brown trout from a distance. Last saturday I caught 5 pickeral on Thompsons Lake. About 10 minutes from here. Kept the biggest one 22", 3.25lbs. Both days were worth the trip. Weather calls for -15 wind chills in the AM. Don't have to worry about thin ice. 12" as of last week. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Take some minnows and fish the river!  I used to catch perch down there all the time when I was in college.

Some limited areas of Chaumont Bay are good ice, a couple more days will open up some good perching spots. On the St Lawrence, you can go to Chippewa Bay, Goose Bay, Eel Bay, Lake of the isles, perch lake inland, black lake in St Law county......
