Susquehanna and Chenango River Fishing
« on: Jan 22, 2015, 12:16 PM »
Had a good spot on the river behind Lords Hospital ruined by good citizens.  People kept calling the police saying that kids were playing on the river ice.  Eventually got kicked off so they didn't have to keep coming to check on me.  Sooooo.... any other ideas guys?  Looking for walleye and perch.  Been to Murphy's with no success on three occasions.  I was hoping to find a few spots on the Chenango with safe ice and maybe someone who knows what the heck they are doing.   Not the type to fish a spot out.  I throw most of my fish back anyway.  Just want to get a few.  Either way wanted to start a new thread to get an idea which river is better for hard water fishing.  Thanks.

ps- Have a six year old son with me a lot so I am looking for ultra safe backwaters or sloooow water.

are you fishing Murphys on the North or south side?  I know a lot of folks fish Hiawatha Island by Hickories park.  Not sure how successful they are but you can see them from the highway.  That spot has been iced over for a couple weeks so should be good-n-thick.  saw someone walk out to the middle of the river the other day.  looks like they left a chair or something on the ice.

Behind Lords, my parents took me ice fishing there for the first time, that was about 50 years ago, it was a popular spot back then, I remember always bring home some Bullheads and perch. ;D
