Aqua vu scouts Xl (Possible screen problems)
« on: Dec 30, 2005, 04:04 PM »
I just recently purchased the new scout xl and have used it a few times already and noticed something unusual about the screen.   no matter what depth i have my camera at there is a bright section at the top of the screen where on other aqua vu's that i have used have a regular viewing screen with no bright section at the same depth.  I Have messed with the contrast, brightness, and the dimmer switch at different times to see what happens but it little effect on the bright section.  I also have taped the upper portion of the clear face of the fish to see if light was getting in that way with no luck in finding a solution.  The section does go away but so does my bait and the fish.  So my question is does anybody's aqua vu scout xl or regular have this problem.

Should i take it back to the place where i bought it at and exchange it for another one or should i get the new marcum x3c camera.

hmm I have noticed that when i first drop the cam down the hole that the top section is always bright but this is because of the light penetrating through the ice. Maybe you are fishing shallow water and its just the light coming through the ice???? IF not the I suggest returning it ASAP i believe the stores give a 30-90 day garantee after that you gotta deal with aqua-vu

good luck

Dave,

Please call the folks at Nature Vision, or shoot them an email. I think that should always be the first step, if you get poor results from customer service, then return it. And let us know.......

It will be interesting to see where this goes. I've never heard of this before. Is there a chance it could be a small air bubble trapped in the fish skin? Did you try removing the fish skin? Does it do it when the camera is not submerged? You should see imigaes about the same whether the camera is in or out of the water. Could be a camera problem. I'd be considering returning it for a replacement. I haven't heard of this type of problem with any brand of cameras.

thanks guys for the replies.  I am pretty sure that it does not have the problem when it it is not in the water.  I will have to check it when i get home and check to see if everything is all charged up for the comming trips.  I think that it is past the date that i can return it to the store i bought it at even though i have only used it three times.  i bought it before thanksgiving.  If i have to return it to hte manufacturer i will keep for the season or as long as i can still see fish, and then return it.  If i return it now i will not see it for the rest ofthe season.
