I'm thinking of getting one, but I'd like to hear from someone other than the advertisement.

For the price they are asking it sounds like a good deal, but I want to be sure that it's not all hype before I omit.

Anyone have one, or know someone that does?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I just got one last week.  I haven't had it on the ice yet but will in the next 2 weeks and can get you a report.  What I can tell you so far is that I sold a Vex camera to get this unit.  The reason I ordered this camera is it is the only one I'm aware of that has a camera that rotates without having to mess with the cable.  I had a Marcum panner with my Vex camera and sort of dreaded using it.  Always seemed to me like a lot of messing around with cables, etc to get the camera set up and rotated to where you wanted it.  So, I didn't use the camera unless I knew I was going to be in 1 spot for a long time.

The appeal of the CFish is the ease.  Drop the camera down a hole, set the depth and you are done.  The CFish seems good so far.  It doesn't have the build quality of the Vex camera but it is about 1/2 the price with more features.  It has an arrow on the screen that tells you which way the camera is pointing.  The remote control buttons are big and you could run the camera with a glove on.  The monitor is a CRT (tube) monitor which is not my favorite vs. LCD, but I'm sure it holds the cost down.  The case is fine but I wish they had a cable wrap built into the case.  The cable wrap they provide is the standard camera cord wrap that comes with most cameras.  If you have other questions or want pictures of the set up, shoot me a PM.  I'd be happy to send over some pictures if it would help you with your decision.

On a side note, I have called Cfish twice with questions and they are fantastic.  Seems like a really good company to work with.  Same company that makes Cuddeback trail cameras.  The Cfish comes with a 1 year warranty that covers basically everything except abuse.

I didn't see a "specs" listing on that website which would show how heavy the whole unit it.  Can you tell me what the whole camera, case & battery weigh?  I got rid of the aqua view cameras because they were just so darned heavy and bulky.  I considered getting one of the micro view cameras, but those have the same issue with camera direction.  Seems like these might be a reasonable compromise between the two if they are lighter than the full size aquaviews...

I'd estimate it at about 10 lbs.  Figure that 5 of that is for the battery.  It is just a standard 7ah battery you would use for a flasher or any other ice electronics.  I'd say the weight of this unit is about the same or slightly more than a typical underwater camera.

It is a bit bulky but I bought one last year, used it the whole year and really like it.
