Red worms through the ice
« on: Nov 15, 2014, 10:08 PM »
Anyone tried it???? Usually stick to waxies, butter worms or plastics. I can get some really good red worms locally

My buddy picked some up last year. Gills were hitting them at brushy. Never tried them myself.

They'll work just fine on first ice, Matt. I've was just catching fish on them last week, so can't believe the sudden ice cover made them not like redworms anymore. Heck, I've used chunks of nightcrawler through the ice with success when in a pinch. Actually outfished the guys around me with them, and they wouldn't believe me when I told them what I was using.

Good luck and be safe!

lol thanks guys...Kevin that's great to hear! They're my go to in the spring but other than that I've never really used them the remainder of the year

I never tried them on the ice but am going to this year and see what happens.  Who knows it might be the trick especially on a crowed lake.

Hmmm... Never tried redworms after ice!! I've used butters, waxies, maggots, gummies (yes, the candy kind! hey, I was out of bait and the kid had some in my truck!), nightcrawlers, bubble gum (and it actually worked on some gills), maybe time to give the Red Worm it's due!! :-\
