Sebago/Free Bait
« on: Apr 04, 2014, 12:02 PM »
Fished Sebago yesterday with a friend and another IceShanty member. I was hoping to catch a salmon or two and set 4 traps for them but didn't get a flag all day. I also had the jig rod going all day in deeper water for togue but couldn't manage a bite. Needless to say we got skunked on the last day of the season but definitely enjoyed the warm weather. I even woke up this morning with a nice sunburn! The other shanty member, FishingPhil, stayed after we left and did manage a togue. I still have about 2 dozen small shiners left that I bought and didn't use and am willing to give them away to someone who would like to use them. I live in South Portland so just shoot me a PM if you're interested. If they aren't taken soon they will become fertilizer :P Hope everyone had a successful season with lots of fish, for those of you still fishing be careful and catch a lot! See you on MyFishFinder!

The bait shops I called didn't have any smelts. Where we were fishing there was plenty of ice.

MCW has plenty of smelts. Fished off Raymond cape today. 16" of ice. Edges are gone. Barely made it off. Checked the state park. 3 feet of water before you can hit the ice. I would reccomend a helicopter or a large jump.
Oh yeah almost forgot. Zero flags in 4 hours zero fish marked. Moved on to tricky were I sit now. Edges are fine lots of slush on the ice but manageable.one bass so far.
Can't catch em on your couch.
