Treble for Trout?

Anything wrong with using a small treble with a shiner for rainbows and browns? I know everyone has their favorite hooks they use.

I hook them in the back, somewhere between the dorsal fin and the tail.

#12 eagle claw treble 4 ft floro leader

I generally hook the bait behind the dorsal in the back or in the tail

I have been experimenting a bit with nose hooking smelt have not noticed any positives or negatives

I use a size 2 or 4 hook. I don’t like using small hooks for trout. They inhale the hook and more fish are destroyed. The bigger hook can’t penetrate a trout too deep. All my fish are hooked in the mouth. I also file off the barb. Once a trout starts bleeding if you release it it’s going to die.

I don't use trebles if I am releasing my fish. Too many bleeders. If they are hooked deeper than the mouth, its better to clip your line leaving the hook in the fish to eventually dissolve.
