Ouch, depending on if was in between those island or not, that's deep inland sea and recovery would be difficult

I like how they choose to use the headline, "Truck falls through ice on Lake Champlain", and then follow with the sentence, "The truck was left on the lake until it can be removed safely, officials said."  They did the same thing with the one in St. Albans.  How can a truck be left ON the lake, if it fell through the ice?

I know there is a major pressure crack out there. Wonder if they tried driving over it or too near it?

this is untrue, once a body of water has frozen up and can be driven on it is considered a public highway! hence the reason you can be given a ticket for unregistered atv's and snowmobiles, also DUI's on the ice aswell if it was not a "public highway" they would not be able to give you tickets for these things! once it becomes a public highway your insurance is still legally responsible for your coverage!

there is a picture of the truck on the "islander" and on facebook.  looks like he was trying to go over a big crack.

There's 2ft of solid ice out in that area.  He must have found a pressure crack or something.
