eom friday
« on: Dec 23, 2005, 05:52 PM »
was at the end of main today, didn't see much caught today, especially myself as I caught one sauger when I got there and then nothing after that.  Then a guy shows up and gets 5 fish (4 eater walleye and a perch) within an hour of showing up.  That was enough for me, I then went to lockport and fished near the wall, and the sauger are the only dependable fish for me.

Jeremyw111... ice fishings a funny thing. Done the same, fished for hours...moved around, changed presentations with no results. Then some punchy looking guy shows up, drills a hole seemingly just anywhere and catches a couple big beautiful walleye. What gives??? I feel the luck part is just being in the right spot. Sure skill and presentation are very important but not worth a hoot if there's no fish under your hole. Take for instance Tues. of this week. 4 holes in our shanty and all 3 keeper walleye came out of the same hole?? Same bait, Fireball jigs c/w stinger, and color??? Thats ice fishing... low tech...deadly effective at times and just plain boring others!

As for the saugers at thr Locks,  yes they are a sure thing and tasty out of the cold water. I target them once the walleye bite slows down in Jan. Nice spot by the wall and almost always out of the wind! Good luck and have a great xmas break.
