Some Beauties
« on: Feb 07, 2014, 05:10 PM »
Two days ago I took a buddy fishing and showed him the ropes (according to me  ;D)  He told me yesterday that he could barely sleep thinking about the 4 pound bass he caught with me. Said it was the biggest bass held ever seen in person. hehe,  Of course I was extreemly happy to give a buddy and clients the opportunity to fall in love with catching big fish.
After hearing the thanx and excitment in his new found obsession, I decided to take him to "My Special Place" and introduce him to the big girls.
My buddy and his first 2 pin quality fish ever. In the same trip no less.
 a shy 7 pounder ,       and a beautiful 8 pound 3 ounce.
Now he is Really hooked.

Is that a Bahama bass?? Looks like the Bahama's with that nice blue colored background.

Kidding aside>>> that's a beauty.

the tilt.....haha thats funny ;D

I would love to visit the Bahamas but I wouldnt trade the serenity and stillness of winter for any warm weather. Ild miss chopping wood, harvesting whitetails, tapping maples, breaking ice from my animals watering bins.....all that great stuff :)
The morning was beautiful, there was a big growth crack that sent 6 feet of mist into the air and if froze instantly. It looked incredible

the bass in the bottom pic has a crazy digital looking patern.   this pond is 12 acres. Ive seen that same fish for the last several years. (Im pretty sure its the same one) I caught her and said "hello" several times. But what gets me is it hasnt really grown much in the last couple years. Maybe a pound at best.

The top picture.   :)  he's holding it bent kinda funny, this bass was thick top to bottom.  The fish is 23 and 1/8 inches.  On bass conversion chart she is 8.23 lbs.   I did not weigh her at a scale just let her go with minimal stress, but the charts are acurate, I have weighed fish and looked at the chart and theyre always within 2 ounces, well unless the fish is obviously living stressed or starving.
I bet shell be over 9 at spawn....or maybe next year for sure.

Heres his previous PB 4 pounder from the other day.   Nice fish...

And Today.... clearly nearly twice the size. Ild say thats one heck of an upgrade :)
Now I have to try to get him on the Shanty!

Everything, perch, sunfish, frogs, mice, and lots of nutritious pellets.   Many of times while watching the pond i have seen them take baby ducks too.

I could be wrong but I think they will get to 8 pounds pretty much everywhere around here with good water quality and feed. One of my buddys has a 10 pounder mount. I have a 9 and i know of two more people in my area who also have 8's.  All came from a differant bodies of water in north central ma.

Great story, In a small deep trout pond in Gardner, I was standing on the beach right beside my buddy who caught the 10.  Two monster LMS came cruising in in about 4 feet of water.  One of them clearly pounds bigger then the other. He threw the bait near the bigger one and the smaller one bolted out and grabbed it in a tidal fury. He caught it and the bigger one vanished into the deep. I re-live this moment in my mind all the time and return to that same spot on the beach, hopeing it comes back. Ive never seen it again.
