This happened to me (soft water)   About 10 years ago me and my buddy (IC member Retski) were trolling for walters off the Sturgeon point at night.    Lights on and red and green glow sticks on my hand made planners.    A boat comes flying out of no where and misses hitting us by 30 feet with 4 guys in it.   Cut my lines and my boards!!!   I yelled for him to stop.  He circled back and he said "F you, your were in the course of his GPS, couldn't  see you with the lights in the back ground"  no help to retrieve my gear, just attitude (**censored** jerks) and he headed home to the marina.    So, I call the Coast Guard to report a collision  (planner boards and gear count), they were sending someone down to Sturgeon Point marina.  I saw these guys from the water trying to quickly leave the launch, so I called to police too.      I pull up to the launch and the police were treating us like we did something wrong for bothering them.   I could tell these guys were drunk!    They talked to the police for a bit and then the Coast Guard "kid" shows up with a clip board to take statements and the police basically told him to leave "nothing to see here".    Then I see the guys laughing and shooting the poop with the cops like they knew them.   Cop comes over to me and says "we cant arrest them for being stupid"   I'm like what, then the cop tells me to calm down!       I wrote a letter to the Police Chief and no response.    My taxes at work!!!  got to love it!!!

That was my best friend he called me at 1 am to tell me about it. He said he heard the first sled go by then looked out the window and next thing they knew the brand new hut was gone equipment every where. I had me wifes birthday so i skipped the trip. I told him if there was 4 of us in the hut one of us would of got hurt for sure. Equipment can be replaced but life or body parts not so much.

I'm confused, did they both have a hut and weren't in the one that got hit?

What I'm saying is that it's really not a big deal if you get caught its only a ticket (like a speeding ticket) it's not even a criminal offense, maximum 15 days in jail is for anything including a speeding ticket or running a red light etc

Wow that would be scary, makes you think however.  I have been jigging in my pop up heard sleds and never even looks out the window just seems like a second nature thing.  .08 isn't much alchol I believe the speed is a little more to blame excessive speed blurs thing that little bit extra.  Atleast no one was hurt.

The article said she was arrested for having a BAC of .08 or higher. I am guessing it was quite a bit higher.
