3 lbs first small mouth ever in MA first ever through ice.Phone took B&W but I like it." Good photos are like good fish they are hard to catch"

Nice smallie. Was lucky enough to get my first thru the ice last year at 3.5#

got a 4# smallie last year thru the ice using a Northland bloodworm while jigging for perch on a UL combo. Awesome fight but missed seeing the fish jumping out of the water.

Bummer about the b&w, but a nice fish nonetheless!  Still have yet to land a smallmouth myself, hoping that will change this year.

try hand lining one on a tip up. Not nearly the signature smallie struggle

x2 they fight like a perch on a tip up but in open water you better hold on.
