I bought the elite 5 and then bought the ice pak. It was cheaper then buying ice machine and then boat transducer. I like it. It is a solid unit. The flasher does not work as well as my lx-5 did. When fishing smelt it doesnt read well past first sonar contact. May be a setting issue. My advice is skip th ice pak and build a custom box if you are handy. Not impressed with the ice pak but it is serviceable. Really like the gps and graph combo. In retrospect would buy humminbird though. More options.

I have one and love it. I built my own platform for it so that I can easily take it on and off my machine when I'm using the gps. I never use the flasher setting, only the graph and I have zero problems marking my jigs/fish. If you keep the brightness on level 10 it does eat up the battery. I keep mine on 6 inside the shanty and it lasts all day. I keep seeing more guys out on the ice with them this year.
