Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Bait / Attractant ???
« on: Feb 13, 2005, 05:04 PM »
A tough day of fishing today with a strong east wind and snowmobile races on the lake made us have to get inventive...
I had tried different color patterns and bait combinations when beer thirty rolled around and we had some snacks while we re-evaluated the situation. Dropped a few pieces of Reese's down the hole while getting back into fishing. We were watching the Aqua-Vu when the chocolate/peanut butter chum started filtering down and the fish started rolling in. They would check out our baits but just back off and just mill around the area. I cranked up my rig in a flash when I saw this activity and smeared some of the peanut butter filling on my tear drop. After it setteled back down (about 27' of water) a nice sunfish came right up and sucked it in and blew it back out and then backed off a little. About two seconds later it came back and SLAMMED that thing! The rest is now history. Went from a dead afternoon to a busy, fun trip! Who'd of ever thought?

In the future,  I would bring a bit of peanut butter,  and keep the reeces for myself.  I give you    for inventiveness though.  I will be trying this out in the future.  Thanks for sharing.

Mike

Just dip the jig in a bit of PB,  should be sticky and easy to use.

That's the best idea I've come upon, I'll have to try that sometime... if I don't eat it first! ;D
Don't they make Reese's Peanut Butter by itself?

The more fish we release, is more fish we all can catch.  b/c we all like to catch.   Catch, Photo, Release!!  Such an easy concept, but so hard for others to understand!!!!!

try peppermint oil. it works on my flys in the spring. you need to put a little in the wood chips with your maggots the oil will soak in to the skin.

Friends of mine were catching brook trout on deer meat sunday. They ran out of bait. I'll try the pb though. Amazing what works when you're willing to try.
Looking forward to some "crappie" nights!
