Down time means lots of cooking. Keeps me fat, full, and happy.
It was a slow day here yesterday with the storm, so I had plenty of time to cook up a tasty meal- steak and mushrooms with chickpea salad and cilantro pesto. This morning I'm working on an marinade now for our chicken dinner tonight.
Back in my college days, we'd catch salmon and steelies all through October and part of November, then until we had ice I'd sit in my rockin chair on the porch, drink beer and smoke fish and deer meat for weeks on end. late fall/early winter temperatures were always about perfect to smoke fish.
Then of course, there's lots of time to count worms, put out merchandise, and cruise ice shanty too
