frabill sells a threader with their spring bobbers. otherwise a needle threader works well

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

Just need to buy the spring bobbers that have an "eye" (like an additional guide on the end of your pole) at the end of the spring. Very simple-just can't let it freeze up just like your other rod guides..

I have found if I fold about four inches of line over and pinch the fold tight and then push the folded point through that it will go right in.

If you tie flies, a bobbin threader works well.

There is a plastic threader in pharmacies for dental braces parts.  About 4 inches of stiff nylon with a loop on one end. Sold by the box of way more than you'll ever need.

My girlfriend bought a new frabil rod with the orange tip on the end. The orange part I think they call the (noodle)? Besides what it's called, you can see the smallest of bites. Rod cost $55 I think.  Might even pick me up the same one, or one of the rods where the lines rolls out forward on the reel.

Bobin threader will work for you, they are cheap and sold at any fly tying shop.. or online on ebay real cheap. They have a brass/wood/steel handle so they won't fall out of your box on accident, and they are real easy to hold onto when cold.

I have never personally see a rod tip as sensitive as my Stcroix spring bobber

tuned up custom rods precision noodle. Just as sensitive, maybe more so than the st. croix legend series. I've owned both.  ;)

Each his own-whatever works.  Some people have a good feel-others better using sight. I agree with you but it's whatever works for you. I personally feel that it's just like which lures you like, you catch fish doing it a certain way-the fish are committing suicide that day so you have confidence in it and basically you fish that combo with more focus/more often, and continue to build more confidence in it. Yes, there will be those days when the fish want just one style so you need a few rods tied up differently to try quickly when you know you have fish under you. I also feel that "MOST" times you do not have to buy the $50 whatevers, $10-20 rods will work just as well once you "believe" in them..   Cya...

A #12 demon will load the tip. Smallest fish I've caught is a bluegill of less than 2", saw him bite with ease. I've used up to 1/16oz spoons on it and it handles them all well. It is, IMO, the best rod out there for small jigs and panfish.

All this talk of high tec spring bobbers and threading the line thru. If you have to thread line thru a spring it will freeze up when you are out in the cold.
I  use a guitar string when using a spring bobber. Cut a piece 5-6" long and bend a loop in one end and tape the other end to your pole. Leave the loop open and you can remove the line with ease.

i sgree 100%..i use to use them darn things...nothin but a pain when you are out on the ice...buy a good light jig rod..2-3 lb test line...also...just pull the pin and buy a flasher...was out last night explaining to a buddy how it works...i let him try it out..i jigged his rod and showed him where his bait was..i jigged up off the bottom and a crap came runnin..handed him the rod to catch the fish..he had a smile so big...he said"now i know how you are catching them...he is going to find a flasher asap! :)
i just know they will bite if i stay another hour.
