Although, for $24, it might just be easier to fix yourself.
Last season I discovered that there was a leak in the plastic gas tank of the Tanaka engine on my Nils auger. The leak was coming from the seam in the plastic. I tried patching it to no avail. I need a new tank. Should I reach out to Tanaka to buy directly? Or are there sponsors here that carry them? Are they easy to swap out? Thanks in advance.
I just tooI mine out this weekend. Found that the leak is in the grommets. I had a real hard time priming the bulb... when it did prime, the tank leaked like crazy at the grommet.
I've had a slight leak between the gas line and grommet. The gas line will form a collar at that point.Simply slide the gas line in or out a hair through the grommet. That collar on the gas line caused by the grommet will return back to its shape. Just a note: if you take the auger into a warm place vent the cap till the gas warms up or else pressure will build in the tank and push gas out. That could be at the grommet or forced through the inlet valve on the carb. When you take it outside after that warm up. Again vent the tank to relieve the vacuum. That would go for anything with a gas tank. Yes the gas caps to have a vent but they don't always work as interned.
I think I'm having the same problem as you did. You mentioned that it was a pain to replace, can you tell me what was involved?
