Looking for a new reel?
«

I'm looking for a new reel to pair up with my JM 38"Mackinaw Elite Series Med/Heavy rod. This set up will be used for lakers and pike. Also what type of line would be best?
Thanks in advance.

I would go with something like a pflueger president 6935. It has a smooth drag system which you will need. For line I use tuf-line 12-15lb braid with seaguar 20 lb blue label floro leader.

Thanks. I wasn't even thinking of using a leader.

When fishing deep I like to use one tied onto braid because it will take out a lot of the stretch accosiated with mono and allow you to set the hook better. If you won't be fishing deep it may not be an issue though.
