Jumbo Res?
« on: Dec 22, 2013, 05:38 PM »
Thinking about trying to ice fish Jumbo next Sunday.  Anyone heard of the conditions up that way?  There are a couple of smaller waters around if the bigger ones up there are sketchy I guess.  Could be worth an exploratory trip?

Iced it last year.  6 of us, 8hours not 1 bite.  DOW guy said it doesnt ice well. Kinda crazy since the lake is loaded with fish.

Thanks.  I think I saw that on a search.  It would probably be marginally worth trying if I knew I could troll it all day to locate fish.  Not sure the ice is in that condition.  Might try the smaller lake below it or just hit the hills.  Looking to try and hit more warm water species this year and explore new places.

The ice last year was around 10" when most metro ice was 2-4". seems to be colder out there.

Cool.  Thanks Tom.  Any pointers on general location/direction?  I've fly fished the annex below it from my kayak once but never the main res.

It sucked there was 5 of us and not one hit the entire day. we even went to the annex and nothing. The ranger said its usually tough ice fishing.

Well, that makes the decision easier.  Thanks for the info.  Ever heard of Depoorters or any other Northeast ponds/lakes being ok through the ice?  PMs welcome.  The good ones usually aren't the ones to post up.

Thanks,

Shaun
