STIHL premix fuel
« on: Dec 01, 2013, 09:07 AM »
Just wondering, has anyone used the Stihl Motomix in their augers? If yes is it worth the extra cost?

Depends how often you use your auger. I don't use the Motomix but do use the Stihl HP in all my two cycle. From what my dealer tells me the tree guys use Motomix in their big saws that don't get used everyday. It has no ethanol so it doesn't go sour.
Sometimes it feels like I live in a Pat McManus story!

personally, i wouldn't waste the money. iv'e been using gas & amzoil 100/1 with a touch of sea foam for years. no issues & i don't winterize/summerize due to the mix.

I have used it before and didn't find any benefits from it, now I use amsoil 100:1 in all my 2 strokes and have never had any issues

I have used it in my auger and my saws. Really depends on how much you use your equipment. Lately I have been using VP SEF 94 fuel. Straight gas and 50:1 mix.  Works good. I buy it in 5 gal cans. No ethanol to worry about, has a 3 year unopened shelf life. 2 year opened.
I used to use amsoil mixed 80:1 with seafoam. Seemed to have some oxidation on  the carb throat. Quit using seafoam and no more oxidation.

If you are using pump gas make sure it is winter blend with very little ethanol.
