We'll have ice soon so don't make a bee line towards me from your parking spot at a pond or Woodport! A spud bar won't help you much.

Everyone should buy a pair of ice picks if they don't have them. They're $5 and they can save your life. In my opinion they're the most important piece of safety gear. I always have them around my neck or in my pocket.

Yeah no kidding. I've had guys pull up to me on a quad, and a fully loaded trailer and ask how thick the ice is. Some people just can't get right.

After you spend those five hard earned bucks, spend a few more for the best set of spikes you can afford. Just because you don't go through for a swim, does not mean you are a champion ice dancer that never takes a spill.
Broken arm, concussion anyone? Be safe out there, it just might be a long season.

Careful with the snow patches, they insulate the ice and will keep it from gaining ice. Careful no fish is worth your life
