Excellent post IceFisher64!I have been wondering about those Hi Vis lines too. Am i missing something here? I dont get it, i hear a lot of folks saying they use a leader because the line is hi vis and they dont want the fish to see the line...why use Hi Vis then. I can understand it's application if as Crappie-Attitude says its because the old eye's aint what they used to be...LOL...CA....I just got reading glasses for the first time, Or perhaps for casting on softwater for bass or something where watching the line is as important as feeling the strike.......BUT FOR STRAIGHT JIGGING DOWN A HOLE IN THE ICE?? Especially if you are worried that water clarity will enable fish to see and be spooked by your line because of water clarity, cuz in my experience once the lake gets a skim of ice water clarity improves.I like IceFisher64 would like to know what people think about this and why they use Hi-Vis lines.
Personally, I use it because I hand line my tipdowns. It makes it a whole lot easier when you're trying to get the bait back down the hole when you have a hi-vis and a slightly thicker line. Regular mono is dang near invisible when it's laying onthe ice.
