Do they kill them all??

I am not bashing you or anyone who keeps one by any means but it always surprises me when you see vacation spots and dead marlin.

Most of the marlin fishing everywhere is catch and release. I went out of Lauderdale one year and we got a sailfish .....  the captain had the mate gaff it and kill it without even asking the angler ....  then pressured him into mounting it for over a grand  ::)  ....  never mentioned reproduction mounts.  Turns out he got a nice fat referral from the taxidermist.

A couple of years later i read that captain was busted big time for game violations.

Went fishing in St. Lucia and one was caught on our boat.  It took 45 minutes with the mate and myself helping the other guy bring it in.... amazing fight!

I'm heading to Mexico in a couple weeks. We have twelve anglers booked to fish on three boats one morning. Should be a good time!
God grant me strength to catch a fish
So large that even I
When telling of it afterwards
May never need to lie.

Marlin are one of the fastest growing fish in the ocean as they stay in real warm waters there whole life. We spotted at least ten fish each day. If you havent done this before its fishing like no other. You troll at 9 miles an hour!!  When you see one on the surface you make a wide turn and skip the baits about 50 feet to the side of them. When they turn on it you gun the motor and are just about on step when they hit the bait. The first fish ran about 300 yards of line off in about ten seconds then is tail walking about five times. Took about a half hour to get him in. Which i did by myself. Was pretty pooped when we got him. We sold him to them to the locals. After we sold them it cost me about 1000 pesos for the day. About 80 bucks!!! I have fished for many kinds of fish many ways. HANDS DOWN this is by far the funnest best fighting fish i have evrr caught. We are going for two weeks next year and i have arranged to go out four times next year.
