How many more weeks of ice fishing right here in CT?
(Based on forecasts you've seen, your "gut", or whatever)

Weekend of the 2'nd and 9'th for sure. Weekend of the 16'th, maybe. But that'll be the NW hills. 18" up there isn't more than what we should have. Unless we get a miracle cold snap, that 3'rd weekend will be close to shore. ;)

Hoping to get out the next 2 weekends, and take a day off next week. Only made it out 4 times this year and the show is almost over...

Who cares, let spring come. Can't wait to get the boat in the water and go for kokes.  Going to West Hill tomorrow for my B Day going for some browns.  I will keep it official, last lime out Thursday for Ice Fishing. After that let it melt and melt fast.   ::)

Ice is sketchy now in the cove I fish on lake zoar...had to use someones dock to get on/off safe ice today since the edges were shot...lost almost 2 inches of ice in the last 24hours...all this runoff is killing the ice fast and of course the rain on saturday didnt help much...i give it another week or two upstate...the ice will be thier its a matter of getting on/off safely...use ure heads out thier with this warmer weather setting in.

Just cut 14" in farmington res. today for an hour.-May stop @ burr 2-morro before having dinner with friends in winstead-farm res. is 370 ft. elev.-burr is 920 ft. elev. I may see near two feet there. Winchester often has 20+" in the second week of march. It's all about elevation, flow, depth, and sun angle. The other part of the equation is where the heck the fish are.

X2. Club the newbie like a baby seal.

If Winch has 20" of ice this year I'll eat my boots. Guessing 16 to 18".

Ive got out alot so far this season and many 9 hour days but the holes are not freezeing over and 10" of ice to a wet/cracked shoreline tells the tale. Im gonna sneak out a couple times this week and then 3 day weekend at lodge in Adirondacks and keep my fingers crossed im still out walking the plank around here until the 16th. The last thing im thinking about is my boat, go drill some holes. Stay safe and good luck folks.

End of March and possibly into April. The blizzard was the best thing that could of happened to extend the ice season at my favorite spots. Only problem is we need to loose some ice for the fishen to get better. Dam close to 20" Trooper Bri.

Wow, you guys are harsh.  Got of West Hill.  Very  very slow.  Don't get me wrong, I love to Ice fish, been out over 20 times this year.  But there is nothing like slamming kokes on a spring fogging and drizzly day.  Counting the days for that time to return.  Good luck, I,m Heading out again on Thursday. :o

Good luck to those Icefishing in the northwest of the state. The farmers have taped the maples, for sugaring..this means the ground is slowly warming, there is a lot of underground water starting to move after all the rain we had.In both large and small ponds and lakes the water flowing into them is a lot warmer than that of the body of water, also filling them to capacity, floating the ice and making the edges harder to get on to. With the closing of my favorite place, I for one have put my gear away.and look forward to the third sat in April. On march 10Th we spring our clocks ahead one hr.Days are getting longer about 12 hrs of light and 12 hrs of darkness. On march 21 the sun will pass over the equator,Spring On Feb 2ND ground hog day in Ct. he saw his Shadow, 6 more weeks of winter. Its the first week in march you do the math. This is not a prediction, its the circle of life. Stay safe if you do icefish in the next two weeks.Do not forget to put the drain plug in the boat.see you all on the sister site.
