Is the Ice thick enough yet?

I was just wondering when is the Ice going to be thick enough to fish (from past years experince)??
When is it thick enough to not have to worry about going for a late (or early) season swim?

for the red it will probably be around the beginning of december.  trout ponds a little bit sooner.

To think I was just going to post the same question.   Well my predictions for safe ice on the red will be the week of December 5th. Our lakes in the west will also be the same week.

Last year, I was at Reynolds ponds on the last weekend of November.  The one pond was a bit thin, so the two 200+ lb guys stayed off as its next door neighbour had a bit thicker ice.  Caught my first trout then.

FYI: Be careful at Reynolds Ponds if you go out early again this year as Rifle Deer season, in that area, will be open until Dec 3rd this year.......Tip: wear some Blaze Orange.

Yeah, we encountered way more hunters to two fishers that day.  We chatted with a few of them and NROs were around.  I'm not certain yet where first ice will see me....  Thanks for the tip.
